At Falls family Doodles we strive to have healthy well adjusted puppies. We believe in order to have well adjusted puppies they need to come from happy well adjusted parents. In order to grow our program without compromising the happiness of the parents we started the Guardian program.
At Falls Family Doodles we feel that all dogs in our breeding program deserve a family of their own. We want to look past the breeding program and create homes for our dogs that will last long after they are retired from the program. We understand that we cannot provide the attention to these dogs that they would receive in a family. So we decided to search out and find only the best families for our breeding dogs. This allows them to spend their lives in their family receiving all of the love and attention they only return to us for a short while when breaded and when they have puppies and then return to their families. It also ensures a loving home for them that they are comfortable in once they retire. Working closely with the Guardian families ensures that the process runs smoothly for the dogs. While at our home during delivery and until weaning they are treated with all the love and care that I show my own dogs . I am there to assist during delivery and with having all the experience I have gained over the years with delivering puppies I am able to assist if any problems arise or take them to the vet if needed. Once puppies are born I work closely with the Guardian family to make sure they are comfortable with the process. These well balanced, well loved mother/father dogs create the most balanced and loving puppies you could ask for.
Our goal at Falls Family Doodles is to place healthy puppies with our Guardian homes. We only want to pick puppies that will add to our breeding program in a positive way. We will pay for all breeding related expenses including testing, X-rays/ultrasounds, etc. We will help Guardian family learn how to detect a heat cycle and how to manage having a female in the house during the heat cycle. We will also teach a Guardian family how to care for a pregnant dog. We will pay for the dog to be spayed/neutered once a dog is retired and be willing to take the dog back if the Guardian family decides they can no longer care for the dog.

Being a Guardian home is not for everyone. It is a commitment that you make to work with the breeder. It sometimes means weeks at a time without your dog being at home. It can sometimes be a pain having an unfixed female in our home. The good thing with this program is you will have the opportunity to have a pick of the litter puppy at no upfront cost. You take the puppy home at 8 weeks, you are responsible for normal dog expenses such as food and shots, and we pay for anything pregnancy related. Most females will breed a total of 4 litters as long as there are no issues and then she will be spayed and be retired from the program to live out her life with her family.
Once the Guardian family notifies us that their female is in her heat cycle they will be instructed on when they need to bring the female back to the breeder. The female will stay with the breeder up to 2 week during the breeding times. once breed they will be returned back to the Guardian home. After 30 days they will meet breeders at the vet to confirm pregnancy and get a puppy count which breeder will pay for. One week before due date the pregnant female will be returned to the breeder for delivery. The mother dog will stay with breeder until puppies are weaned which is usually 4-6 weeks depending on the mother. During this time the Guardian family will be allowed to visit the mother and the puppies when it is safe to do so. Once puppies are weaned the mother will be returned to their Guardian family and puppies will stay with the breeder.
